How to add and Entry

You will need to register and log in to make an entry. The login form is at the bottom right of this page.

This link takes you to a very long form to fill out but a useful entry can be as little as a name and a phone number. Addresses, email addresses, websites and photos help make the listing more useful. It is also very useful if you use the map to get the entry positioned. Add comments below if you have trouble and we will work through the problems.

If you need to change your entry you can reenter it with the same name and we will delete the extra one. The edit capability is not yet available to general users so if the entry is complex and you have invested a lot of work in it you can make a copy of it and then add it again. Add something in the name of the entry that will let us know which one is the correct one. Don’t worry about making a mess. We are still testing and your efforts will help us identify the bugs.

If it is a business click the “organization button” and remember to make it “Public”. If it is your private data mark it as “unlisted” which is the default and it will not be shown to anyone but be available if a community watch project gets legs.

When you are adding an entry you can check what is on the directory by going to “Manage” at the left under Connections. You will see your entry only if you remembered to make it public. Obviously we cannot allow general users to look at the private and unlisted entries. If you want to be a major contributor to the directory we can give you other privileges that will allow you more complete access like editing.

Categories:

Do not add an entry to the parent category if child categories exist. For example if you are adding a restaurant click the type of restaurant rather than “Restaurant”. Click the town it is located in even though you think it is of interest to folks from “All Location”. If the service is not listed put it in “Other Services” rather than “Services”.

If there are obvious categories missing give us a comment below and we will add them or we will pick up on it when there are a bunch of similar businesses in the other category.

You can click multiple categories but please only pick ones that really fit the business. For example if a restaurant has dancing only once a week then it really does not fit that category.
